Re: Exhaust for 582 Rotax

Will the older grey head 582 exhaust manifold fit to the newer blue head 582 engine?

Re: Exhaust for 582 Rotax

G'Day Mitch. I've searched hi and lo and I cannot locate the new spare 582 exhaust system that I had. I did find a S/H 503 one that I did not know that I had. - Bit suspicious that????
I preferred the underneath mount because the pilot is cooler, the back of your arm cannot come into contact with the exhaust elbow and the total exhaust weight was not carried by brackets on the engine (which will ultimately crack).

Mitch,

Why not just get handy with a welder and fabricate one? It isn't that hard.

Cheers,

Nic.

Re: Exhaust for 582 Rotax

G'Day Nick,

It was good talking with you again.

Now Nick, I thought there was some special relationship between muffler chamber size and length and the exhaust pipe length and diameter. Pulses of hot air, reverberating back and forth Really I have no idea But I'm thinking by the time i get the welder, become handy with it an fabricate my own.......hell will have frozen over and my engine will be cooked due to 'improper', something or other...seriously. I thought Rotax and most folk would not advise such a mod.

Ah I remember. Supposedly the exhaust is 'tuned' to the engine. So you think it's easy enough to knock up a tuned exhaust for the 582?

Looking forward to hearing about your being back in the Blue and just maybe you'll take Easter off for a change and come visit.

Mitch
