NO identity registering

Geoff, Just as a matter of interest, how many of our members who have joined this site, have zero info in their members pages?

Ted

Re: NO identity registering

Ted,

Can you elaborate a little on the "our members" bit? Do you mean ASRA members or members of the ASRA Site or our members here ??

I'm not sure how many have added their name or other personal info as I haven't made that an actual requirement. A lot of people have just put their username as their name and not their real name.

Any reason*

Cheers Geoff

Re: NO identity registering

Geoff,

As "members" of this site. I get a little concerned when you see people hiding behind anonominity ( I hate that word) and yet seem able to post a view. Maybe its just me but I strongly believe in being up front and identifiable when making public statements. Whether you like or dislike what I say, you know who I am whether you're having a shot at me or standing side by side on an issue.

If I'm right on an issue so be it, and if I'm wrong ( as I sometimes am) then I try to take it on the chin and re adjust my attitude once the dust settles. Like most of us here I guess, but there seems to me to be an increasing occurance of people hiding behind a no name no face contrast.

Ted

Re: NO identity registering

Ted,

unfortunately the feature you are suggesting isn't available on this forum software. In fact there isn't even a place where you can put your own name - just your user name. However, Joomla the site software may the ability to show these features put the problem will also be that not all users are logged into Joomla at the moment - only those that have logged in since the last big upgrade (database crash) we had a month or so ago.

I'll have a look at implementing it in Joomla, however it may be impossible on the forum ~~

Re: NO identity registering

I have added a component to the main site called "Community Builder". It allows me to add any field I like and organise the fields into Tabs on your site profile. I have added 2 fields - "Flying History" and "Gyro Type" for starters and will add further as I get time.

Your site profile can be accessed from the Main Menu on the main site under Members ... if anyone has any trouble finding it then we'll get Ted to take donations for a blind dog and a white stick for you!!

Any ideas from you people will be taken on board ..... there is even the ability to make fields mandatory at registration!

Food for thought* *

Re: NO identity registering

mmmmmm

well after looking a bit further it appears we don't have the ability to make these fields mandatory during rego as I'd first thought. Mainly because of the bridge we are using .... never mind, the software is under constant development and it may become available in the future. I guess we'll have to leave it up to the individual to make the choice for the time being.
