Geoff,

Things didn't look so good at 6.30 am this morning. Only Apache server directory/s was shown, then mid morning forum up but not all the links, now all links as should be but your message is alternating in diffent type size. What's the go? Can't contact you re these problems if the sever if stuffing around, so don't know if you were aware or not.

Re: Ooops!!!

Yeah Ted,

A bit of background on how the site runs. We have two packages - Joomla on the main site, and Simple Machine Forums. Two totally different programs that use a bridge to log you into both programs.

Yesterday arvo I had a bit of trouble installing a component on the main site. You may remember that the last time the site was down I moved the main site over to Joomla from Mambo. Mambo and Joomla are nearly identical CMS programs - Mambo Development crew broke away from Mambo and set up as Joomla CMS. When I changed over, the install I did was really a conversion which virtually left the database unchanged - but with differences to the new CMS which have only just become apparent. So getting back to yesterday - I tried to do a quick conversion on the run so's to speak that didn't really work and left the main site down. As the forum can run under it's own steam I pointed the main site address to the forum and everyone was sent to it ... or at least it did you a while! I must have done something with the index file and not replaced it that's why this morning when I went to do a few things on the main site (like a total reinstall from scratch) I discovered the forum was down .... still following ?? So this morning I uploaded the software, got the bridge going and then worked on installing components and menus and mods etc - that's why this slowly appeared to come back on-line

Ok, now that I've had another reinstall we're on the right track as the database looks exactly how it should .... right prefixes etc etc ... and it shouldn't be a problem installing things in the future [ehem] lets hope!! ... anyway back to it, I havent done any of the content yet ....
