Re: pages slow to load
In IE it seems to load the page background first (thus the blue bar across the top) and then it downloads the rest of the page before showing it - and it does take longer to load. On my computer - IE takes about 7 to 8 seconds as against 1 to 2 seconds on firefox.
It may be that the template is whats taking so long to load - the Default Style does show a little quicker.

G'day Geoff. I am still finding the forum very slow - both in the initial opening and subsequent pages.
Even the US forum is far quicker - and that comes from the other side of the world!!!

Re: pages slow to load
Hi Tim,
I still say that Internet Explorer is slower than Firefox - when I use Internet Explorer (which isnt very often) this site is slow to change pages - as you say 7-8 seconds. I tried to allow you to use the default style (same as Rotary Wing uses) to see if it made a difference but for some reason I can't get it to come up for you .... just check in your User CP under options, it should come up after the wysiwyg editor option and allow you to change to the Default Style. But I don't think it will show for you ... I'll check to see why ....

Our server is in San Diago California but that shouldn't make any difference at all - the server speed may but not the location.
I'll check it out and see what I can do ..
Geoff

Hi Rotor,
It's the same for me, but only if you load the page the first time! When you re-load the page, it is quite quick.
Good luck, trying to find the "bug"! :rol l:
PS. Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous, and above all, a healthy New Year for you and your family, from Joe and family!

Rotor,
Safari loads in a couple of seconds for me, and Firefox about 5 seconds, on a fast cable.
I want one second. Do it! Do it NOW!
Now I feel better

mmmm your using Apple ... maybe that's the difference between your speed and mine on firefox... this IE is a real pain in the arse!! Should be banned
I've only got 520k download speed and still get great speed from firefox when browsing the site - maybe it's because I've got most of the site cached .... Anyway, I'll have to figure it out I guess as a lot of people still use IE

Re: pages slow to load
Tim,
You'll have noticed I've changed your default Style to the vBulletin default skin. You can change this in your User CP under Edit Options/Forum Skin. I've also added a Home/Forum link in the navbar so that you can get to the menu on the main page for the video/classifieds/gallery/links etc
Let me know if this makes any difference in the speed ... it does appear to be a little quicker when I access the site in IE

Re: pages slow to load
No Geoff, no appreciable difference. the Chatbox makes it longer to load but it still takes time before it gets to that. The other forums that I frequent don't have a problem with IE.
Hope you have a merry and enjoyable Christmas.
