My name is Michael Richardson from Margaret River In WA. I too have been fascinated with the rotary wing concept since school days. I joined ASRA and a little Perth group about 20 years ago but eveytime the newsletter came out, it started with an orbituary so I decided to sit out for a while.
Two years ago while combing the net to see if there had been much improvement in design, I decided that nothing much had changed until I came accross the Magni Gyroplane. After many emails with the South African agents, I flew to Johannesburg and flew the Magni M16 with an instructor to a game farm and back 200kms away.
So many features appealed to me - over 400 flying and no fatalities, the amazing quality, fully factory assembled, ease of maintenance and a breeze to fly being a very forgiving machine and virtually immune from PIO or buntover.
Needless to say, I was blown away and after winning over 'er indoors made the down payment.
I have now done about 50 hours solo and have taken on the Australian agency just for the sheer fun of it.
