Frantic
Hi from Albany WA

Hi all, I am your average newby. I've read a lot, dreamed a lot, nagged the wife a lot, don't know a lot, and as for money.....haven't got a lot. I will be asking the basic questions, where to learn, costs, and opinions on the safest 'starter' gyro. Any help will be gratefully received, as will donations to the FFF (Frantic's Flying Fund)

Re: Hi from Albany WA

Hi Frantic, I am hearing you. I have been wanting to fly since I was a kid - but deafness through that away until I had two ear operations (1 in 2000 and the other 2002) - and then money was the big thing (or in my case the little thing). I said bugger it! Started on the fixed wing and it took me 34 hours to realise that this was not the flying I wanted to do. Saw a video on uTube, and said that's it. Gyro's.

Well I bought a gyro, no lessons yet - but I am off to Newcastle over the next few weeks and the first thing will be lessons, then get to know my machine slowly and intimately (staying alive is the priority), and away I go...

The cost to buy was $12,500 and I estimate my 34 hours cost me that much so far.

I think the sport is growing and the more we promote it, the better and safer it will be; not that it isn't already great and safe!.

Good luck with the FFF....Keith
