Plumbing Mistakes

You know how it is, you know there are jobs around the house that should have been looked at ages ago BUT you just didnt have the time /didnt want to tackle the job and anything but anything was enough to keep you away from the jobs, well, the water going into the toilet cistern stopped flowing the other day so I thought that it would be a quick easy job...no, some weed in the line was playing havoc with my attempts to get it running but eventually, I won the war with the weed and everything is sweet there, then I thought I better look at the septic cause it hasnt been working right and I knew what and where the problem was as its been a re occurring fault for some years now...actually, I'm very well acquainted with our septic as it has been a source of challenges over the last 30 years or so, the trees we planted about the same time enjoy earthenware pipes very much, particularly with that nutrient laden water to drink when its so dry everywhere else the tree roots very sucessfully crack the pipes, anyway, got that problem fixed and then I thought I better have a look at the drain coming from the house as its pretty dry and it shouldnt have been like that so, I got the poly pipe and shoved up the drain, no joy, so I put a 3 inch fitting on the poly pipe and gave it another shove up the pipe [earthenware] ...no joy again except that Rosie thought it sounded like the pipe was hitting the gully trap...strange, no water flowing so under the house I go....oh yes, I didnt tell you that, the people who owned the property where we live put a verandah onto the house and left the gully trap where it was ! There used to be more room under the house but there seemed a lot less this morning.....ah, huh, I found the problem, a mongrel tree root growing extremely well thank you very much!! Much cutting with my best roo knife& tomahawk saw about a 4 ft length of tree root come out, beauty but no, there is a second gully trap, this one a bit higher and it has a bit of 3x2 over the top meaning my arm has a very limited amount of room to work in plus I'm laying on my belly in an inch or two of foul smelling mud and the bearer above my head gives me an odd jolt or two every time I forget about it!! More cutting, this time its much harder to cut through the root mass as we have a 'toxic combination of soap /dishwashing /washing machine stuff plus human elements combining into a impressive lump of stuff !! I have now got an impressive list of stuff under the house, torch, knives, tomahawk, big screwdriver etc etc, at long last......thankfully, while I can still crawl out, the offending mass is extricated and all the drains now run !!

Then its tool clean up then my turn," no, you aren't coming into the house like that" says Rosie, a closer inspection of myself confirms Rosie's prognosis and that it would be far friendlier to strip off on the lawn before making a dash for the shower.

I now am feeling an odd muscle or two that obviously hadnt been used in the last day or two.
