Re: Hub Bars

Yea ted, i think the way to go is replacement at ????????hrs

Have actually seen a cracking bar, ALMOST impossible to see the bloody crack [ well for me anyway]

Getting the bars crack tested is also an option, but that is damn near half the cost of a new bar. Cost of bars are approx 3......500 bucks

Mite be an idea that logbook hrs [ gyro ] are given to asra at registration renewell, when they see the max hrs permitted for your hub bar, they withhold renewell until new bar is fitted...........buggered if i know, that too mite open up more probs in itself.

Re: Hub Bars

Russ, as you say that could open up problems as people would "adjust" the hours as did a lot of the Robo R-22 guys and rotors stared to fall off!!!!
I have heard (only heard) that there is a dual trainer operating in Oz with an alloy hub bar with over a thousand hours and the owner will not abide by the ASRA AD.

What do members think of turning a blind eye to this sort of practice? It may not be true of course but the question
(What do members think of turning a blind eye to this sort of practice?) still remains a valid one.

Should I contact ASRA with the second hand info that I have???

Aussie Paul.

Re: Hub Bars

Russ, why can't you paint the bar with adye like the mechanics use then run an ultraviolet light of the bar. Shows the cracks up very nicely this way

Re: Hub Bars

Yea ted, heard of that stuff..........but some where, some time, i heard it was not conclusive.........buggered if i know

i spoze it comes down to plain old common sence, and doing the right thing, to yourself and the passenger that has basically put THEIR life in your hands.

am told this cracking does not happen over nite, so get out the magnifying glass, and look REAL hard.......regular

again.......i'm stuffed if i know how to setup a system to stop the event occuring. As paul says, some will fiddle the books to save a buck...............regardless of the possible consequences. [ deadset wankers]
