Prerotators

Rod Torr [ Brizy ] has sourced right angle drive gearboxes that he believes will be spoton for gyros.
Cost around $700, plus bracketry etc etc.
Estimated fitted, up and running, 2 grand per machine......[ complete ] there abouts. Sold in Brisbane somewhere.
Speed............yet to find out, one is going on my build.

forgot............"soft start" also

Re: Prerotators

Hmmm!

Leave it with me Bones......Ive been told the MLS being prototyped now for 503 rotax should give around 250 rrpm.

I know on the Monarch 582 it delivers 325 rrpm for a less than 10 mtr takeoff.

How many rpms do you want in that last 50 or 100?

Mitch.

Re: Prerotators

Isn't that what Jeff uses on his AK blades now?

I must check my 33 footers.

Be carefull, I believe the ELA went over due to a good pre rotator on frosty grass.

Re: Prerotators

IMHO machines with cabins, and some other machines with great pre rotators, should have noted in the POH that the machine is not to be flown if the pre rotator is not working.

Pretty pointless teaching hand starting, slowly building up RRPM etc to someone who will never have need to use it, and if they did when the pre rotator broke they would be so out of practice. Pre rotoator failure does not occour very often if at all in my experience.

Aussie Paul.
