Inversion

Had a bit of a play tonight just before sunset.
Took lots of photos, the temperature was not to bad but boy was it warm above 2000ft. Could have stayed there a lot longer if it was not for the sun going down. Coming back down through the inversion some time later was like stepping into a freezer. It had got quite cold and damp.

Re: Inversion

Its an incredible feeling when you get above the inversion layer, it can be a bit rough but the air is usually smooth as above that inversion layer. The layer can be quite low early in the day but climbs quickly as the morning passes.

Coming back from down south one stinking hot afternoon in the C172, I climbed all the way to 10,500 trying to get into smooth air but that inversion layer looked just as close at 5000 feet as to what it looked at 10,500. Needless to say, the 172 wasn't enjoying the climb either.

Good shots there Dewie.
