Sunday Morning Fly

I headed off this morn for a refreshing fly, covered about 300 kms, in just under 4 hrs, i wasnt planning on being that long but got chased all over the place by a big fog cloud.
Birdy sorry for being so high, putthere are powerlines down there everywhere, and me not wanted to end up hanging from one would do the paint work no good at all

The start of the head waters of the Dam.

Re: Sunday Morning Fly

First one is just before it starts to spread out.
Next is one of the rock walls build to hold the water is the basin, so it dont bypass the dam its self

Re: Sunday Morning Fly

First one is a shot from below the wall looking up stream, nice sight..
Second is just a shot of the water being let down stream for the irrigation system, that the whole of the Burdekin sugar industry relys on..

Since there is a water shortage down the southern end of the state,, there is talk they want to pipe this water down the coast some 1500kms, i say piss off, it's all ours, you can bet that as soon as they do that we gonna be for ever running out of water

Re: Sunday Morning Fly

Nice photo's Bonesy !!!!
By the colour of the water in the dam its either sewage, or full of Carp
That being the case, you can keep it all !!!

Regards Sam.....

Re: Sunday Morning Fly

Sam,
Just a tipical flood water colour from up here, depends on where it flows fromthis water came from up north, if it rains out the back of Ingham, and local water from around Ravenswood, it comes down red like this, other wise if the Belyando comes up, its black from the black soil from down near Clermont some 400 kms away, 2 mighty river systems join about 3 kms from the wall, and as for the carp, yep there are a few in the river, but hopin there can be something done to steady the spread, but i dont like their chances, just hope all the Barra get real hungry and start eating the little f*ckers....

Re: Sunday Morning Fly

Those carp have a lot to answer to. I was watching Landline and they were doing a bit on Lake Argyle and the water was crystal clear, something we haven't seen in the Darling since the carp were introduced !!

Good photos there Bones. Seems theres a lot of water from you to central Australia. The ABC news showed Birdsville cut off and the Diamantina flowing very well. Not sure how much is coming down the Cooper but it will all do a lot of good.

Re: Sunday Morning Fly

Bones, I have stayed at that lodge a couple of times on skiing and fishing holidays. I had heard that it had closed down.
Sat once and watch a couple of feet of water coming over the spillway, quite a site indeed.
You are making me homesick mate.

Graeme.

Re: Sunday Morning Fly

Birdy bout 150 km's E SE of CT , and it not been there long ony bout 20 years or so, i think..
The carp, who are all these smart asses that think of introducing things to water ways and the land in general,,, i would have thought some one might have learned from the chinny apple and cane toads from around here to start the list..
Brian yeah i heard it on the radio, while i was drinking coffe waiting for the fog cloud to piss off, a fair bit of water around all right..
