Girly Whirly

Hi All

I have been offered a gyro up here in the Territory. It was the fourth gyro Rosco built and is a 447 rotax.

The information i have is it was laid over and has been rebuilt and was passed and flown for a very few hours. It has been stored for about ten years but was in flying condition when parked up.

I have to go and have a look at it, olmate reckons it owes him four grand. It's red now and not pink

Any and all advice will be appreciated

Regardsd Mark

Your weight will be critical in that machine. If you over 80kg it will struggle to get off. its probably really light though. Ken

Re: Girly Whirly

Hi Ken

Apparently it is really bare as in no prerotater and minimal instruments, Rosco said it flew ok with him at 100 kg but with me at about 110kg flying weight it will want to work good. Probably dont need any passengers .

Was wanting to know what to look for in a long term stored machine especially with rotax I know the seals are probably dried out but someone said try and start it if it's really hard to start after doing all the right things then the seals are probably gone.

If I have to buy new tyres and rebuild the motor and gearbox I'm wondering if its cheap enough, probably rudder cables as well and fuel lines, regrease the rotor head, anything i forgot
