The Firebird story....

....It appears that there are some misconceptions out there regarding my Firebird. I have always planned, and thought that I had made clear, that I wanted Firebird to be an Oz version of a side by side fully enclosed 4 stroke powered cross country gyroplane that was stable, user friendly, spacious and comfortable, and as aesthetic as possibe to the buying public. I wanted Firebird to be constructed from as many Oz and NZ parts as possible. I also wanted to support the products of as many gyro component manufacturers as possible.

I am using Rosco and Patroney rotor heads, Patroney and AK rotor blades, Heliptera and Patroney props, instrument pods and wheel spats from John Marshall in NSW, seat tanks from Gerry Goodwin, Autoflite gearbox from Neil Hintz in NZ, Link ecu from NZ, Pre rotator soft starts made in Oz and NZ, main gear u/C from an Oz ultralight manufacturer.

Why am I using these particular products?? Because they have proven to be very reliable and efficient products.

The Firebird geometry and choice of suitable products is my choice. The Firebird package has been dcesigned by myself from my 25 years of powered gyroplane of experience including many hours instructing newbie gyro pilots, flight testing, as well as advice from around the world.

I hope this clarifies the position on the evolution of my Firebird dream.

Aussie Paul.

Paul, you probably need to clarify the difference between the standard RAF pod and the Firebird pod as they do look similar.
Most people are well aware that the SH pod is a RAF pod but made a bit bigger.[thats how it looks to me.

Well dun PB, honesty dont hurt that much do it?
So, on the CIN it will read;
Machine No. *******
Made in Oz n NZ by Rosco,Patroney, AK, Heliptera, John Marshall, Gerry Goodwin, Autoflite, And some ultralight mob, all be'n slaped together by PB.

Iv never said its a bad thing to use others good ideas, i do it all the time, but a little recognition would go along way.

BTW PB, how have you modified the Rosco nosewheel?

Re: The Firebird story....

Ok Birdy, enough of the games mate. Some of the plates are longer and thicker and a slightly different shape. There are some thicker bolts. The are less thru bolts that tend to make removal almost impossible after heavy work, the pivot bolt has been moved further away from the tyre to stop the mud caking up and binding, 2 steering brackets, two compression neoprene blocks side by side to give a gentler start to the compression action. Castlated nuts with pins in the areas that require them by the 2 seat manual.

I see by the weather radar it looks to be still raining up your way. Is this the best rain for quite some time?
