The Nats
Ok it looks like i be making the trip down south this year in comfort.
So i decided to buy a full Oz road map just to check out the big picture and bugga me dead Wang is damn near due south of here, so instead of heading to the east if i head alittle to the west at the start it is damn near straight down form there, this is my basic plan, a couple of big legs to start off then steady into it..Alowing 3 days to get there so no rush..
Charters Towers to Barcadine, then off to Charleville, probably the first night there.
Next leg in the morning is to Cunnamulla, then on to Bourke, then to Cobar, maybe the 2nd night there.
Last leg is Cobar to Hay, then into Wang, about lunch time on Friday, just in time for Birdy to shout the beer(rum) on the bar.
How bout it ya slack ass???
From the ERSA site there is feul availible at all the stops so it is looking good for the time being, it should be about 2500km with no ground support, but then i got to turn around after and fly home.
Can any one see a problem with any of this??? seriously???
Never tried a big flight like this one before so any help is good.
Then home the senic route a bit further east......

Re: The Nats
Mate, solong as you plan to have plenty of time and fuel, long laps are a breeze and a plesurable way to kill a day.
Iv never planed to do more than 8ookm ina day, and my longest day was abit over 900km coz i was maken better time than i thought. [ and id rather be flyn anyway].
Just remember, your on holiday, so just kick back n watch the world float past.

Re: The Nats
Well things are looking like im gonna have a sore ass soon(damn) , the new motor is running very well only got 3 hrs on it now but heaps of power and it is smooth, so tomorrow is the only day i got left before i head off, to put as many hours on it as i can to can comfortable with it, the damn thing is like a sports car, bit different to me ol single.
So im gonna do up my flight plan propperly now and see how far i got to go, my guess is about 4300 to 5000 km round trip.

2,184 km ? about 1 day 3 hours [27 hours] by road bones, so by air should be a little shorter, unless you have weather to worry about. It'll be good IFR training - 'I fly roads'. Suggest you plan for 4 days @ 4 Shifts @ 2 hours each. The problem is airstrips are becoming a scarce commodity these days.
I can't help with the Acco - I am too far out of your way - unless you go via the eastern seaboard and land at Warnervale..
Hope it goes well for you.
Cheers,
Nic

Re: The Nats
Ok got my trip sort of roughly planned out, i got about 2000kms on the way down, 3 days no probs in theory.
Now my main prob is getting home again, i wanted go go home a different route, but i can seem to find airports with fuel on the ERSA site, north of St George, until about Emerald, now i sort of gonna need some go go juice in there somewhere i feel, the only other option i got is to go right over to the coast to get fuel, can any one help me out here?
I can go to Roma but i dont feel as though a $47.50 landing fee is fair for an ultralight, and it sounds like a bloody busy airport, and this country kid dont want that.
If i cant sort it out i will back track home from about Walgett, west out to charleville again and home, or something like that, had it all sorted out then went looking for fuel

G'Day Bones. As well as ERSA, I also use a book called the Country Airstrip Guide. It is full of non registard airfields and is orderd per state required.
IE. "The Victorian Country Airstrip Guide"
This will give you all these additional strips that you maybe able to use.
see attached link.

Good Luck
