Re: gyroz gyros

Gyroscopics have proven a good package, with good backup, over many a year

The other one is a newbie, yet to be proven.

Re: gyroz gyros

With all due respect ,Russ, I'd hardly call Jeff a 'Newbie' . Granted there isnt the same number produced , but the Gyroz has been around for a while & starting to clock up some good hours , & as you are well aware Rosco uses Jeff's blades on some of his machines.

Craig , it's really up to personal choice , get a ride in both & compare what each has to offer .

Re: gyro gyros

I didnt mean "Jeff" was a newbie..........was referencing his tandems only. And i was definitely not suggesting the tandems were suss.

Sorry for any misunderstandings.

[ personally i think his tandem idea is good ]..............but to be proven over the next few yrs.

And just for the record, don't forget one spiralled into the ground recently, totally out of control because there
was a tail failure. Pilot and passenger lucky to get only minor injuries. I understand that problem has now been rectified in future builds.

Re: gyroz gyros

No worries ,Russ, I was just making sure anyone reading that understands that Jeff has been building & flying for a while ( 18 years ,I think ) & has made some great advancements in blade building . His own design extrusions for streamline airframe tube & blades must have taken a hell of a lot of work ( & $ ). His lastest machines are no doubt the result of a lot of testing .

As for the spiral , he was caught in a severe thunderstorm with wind gusts estimated over 90km/hr . The twin tail is a redunancy setup , as such would fly fine with only one tail ( each tail area is the same size if not larger than some other single tail only designs) . The shaft failure was attributed to fatigue due to a lot of trailering .

Re: gyroz gyros

Craigh,
Work backwards from what you want to do with it, and how much experience you've got, and how much money you've got to play with. The Rosco and the HS aren't in competition. You shouldn't be tossing up between them, if you know what you want. They are for different markets.

If you want "ruff & tuff" flying = Rosco. They are the best in the world for that & have tens of thousands of hours of proven flights.

Jeff is more in competition with the Mt03/Magni, but on a budget. They are tandems, but in the open. If I was looking for that type of machine, he would be on the top of my list to look at.

If you want enclosed side by side then you are in the RAF/SH/Xenon/RAFTOR/Owen/Firebird league (but not necessarily in that order). But sharpen your pencil when it comes to the chequebook.

And then again, if you haven't much experience, you might want something that you can afford to tip arse over head a couple of times, without bankrupting yourself. As Waddles is prone to saying "It's a thousand dollars a second until the dust settles".

It's not a question anyone but yourself can answer, without a heap more info.

Cheers
