My New EA81

Hi all,

Just picked up my new (rebuilt) EA81 today ....

Fuel injected - Wolf 3D computer. Ground tuning the motor ran up to 5200 with 14.5 degrees on a 3 bladed 72 inch Warp Drive - 2.21:1 autoflight gearbox. Running 4 coil pack with crank type sensing through modified dizzy .... this won't give me as much power as a dizzy/single coil setup can with enhanced spark will ... but it will give me excellent redundancy ....

Rebuild done by Butch .... computer setup, dizzy conversion, wiring and tuning by George May from Racetech ....

Photo 1: Final adjustments to timing ....

Photo 2: Tuning up on the laptop .... (Butch testing the durability of his new reebocks in the exhaust blast ... .... not long mate)

Geez Rotor, I can't believe, after all the info availible, you had the gearbox mounted the wrong. That way makes it more difficult to have a stable gyro without having step on a milk crate to get in it.

Re: My New EA81

Actually Paul .... I'll have to step up onto the wing to get into it

Sorry Paul, couldn't help myself. Here's a pic of the gyro it's going into ...

Re: My New EA81

Jodel D18 ... timber and fabric - Jodels have been around since just after the second world war .... this modified design was developed to fit into the RA-AUS ultralight 2 seater category. Cruise depending on motor around 90-100 knots, around 6 hrs endurance and with the ea81 should get about 1000ft climb-out fully loaded ..

Should be heaps of fun with the added ability to go places fairly quickly .....

Had to sell the Gyro to get into this, but hope to get another single seat gyro next year after the finances pick back up again .....
