Aurora Butterfly Desert Dancing Mustering Machine

Well I have some news!

Larry Neal's new Aurora Butterfly gyroplane is currently being tested.

Larry Neal is presently testing his new design.

For more information about this Gyroplane and the other Butterfly range please go to www.thebutterflyllc.com

This 912s powered gyroplane has a Metro Launch shaft drive pre-rotator, spins the 26 foot rotor blades to 300 rpm to date. Testing continues.
The landing gear is the all terrain version with G Force.
68 inch prop.
Heavy duty Super Slider (double slider) rotor head.
Beefed up head and control pivot plates.

This is a serious aircraft with long range freedom extender tanks and all the trimmings.

Enjoy the pics.

This aircraft incorporates upgrades and mods suggested by Australian gyro pilots when conducting flight test/reviews of the Monarch Butterfly.

We have a Musterer about to embark on field testing of a Monarch 582 with All Terrain G Force Landing Gear and recieved another request recently to supply GFLG as a separate component.
The GFLG is an intric part of a whole gyroplane design and as such individual componentry is not for sale, apart from T and Tall tails, front struts etc.
We have had several other serious inquiry's recently regarding the Aurora Butterfly with repect to mustering applications and we believe we have a product that will do the job and more.

Never been a better time to buy a Butterfly than right now.

Mitch.

Re: Aurora Butterfly Desert Dancing Mustering Machine

My guess would be the tanks are positioned as close to the centre of mass as Larry could get. Less impact to the overall aircraft balance as the fuel burns.

Re: Aurora Butterfly Desert Dancing Mustering Machine

"Mitch now all you got to do is to get him to fit a 72" prop an it should be good,"

Yeah and a aero dynamic cabin you can fly on, change the landing gear to single leaf and call it a XENON...then it should be good!

"but it should work as long as those long legs can handle the treatment they will get.(not saying they wont):"

I believe those legs have plenty of 'time' on them now and have been modified over time to provide the best GFLG componentry but hey Larry is always willing to mod any upgrades if required.
I havent heard of a set braking yet from dropins.....I am hearing about machines with engine outs in the outback requiring substantial repairs.

Bones you already know the power comes from the front of the engine. What is your question?

This is a serious aircraft with long range Aerodynamic FREEDOM EXTENDER TANKS and all the trimmings. 20 Gallons of fuel all up (incl of seat tank). Is what those white things are.

Splashdown is spot on with his statement. Side tank fuel supply is used first.

Fly safe.

Re: Aurora Butterfly Desert Dancing Mustering Machine

Testing is continuing. I will advise further results or check the website
The Butterfly LLC for videos as they come on line.

Come on Bones, how many times have we talked about it. You even asked questions of rotax about same.

The power comes from the front!

Obviously the smiley face icons do not help impart attempts at humour or jesting so I wont waste time with them anymore

As with Bones, there are the pics...you have the web address, "sorry I typed, I'll just shut up" and let the gyro do the talking.

All updates can be found on the website.
The Butterfly LLC

Have a nice day!

Mitch,
Good design looks simple. Looks a very safe machine. Uncluttered, easy to get at.

Great stuff

Re: Aurora Butterfly Desert Dancing Mustering Machine

Larry has been listening to the flight reviews of Aussies pilots, test flying Butterfly and Monarch here in Oz. The morphing of the Butterfly to Aurora has been market driven and many changes have been made to accomodate the potential and likely owners of this Aurora model.

I agree Graeme and Brian it is really good stuff that Larry has done with this model.

My wish is that the Aurora comes through the testing program with 'flying colours'.

Here are some of the upgrades.....................

Taller mast by 4"
68" prop up from 60"
Stepped Keel
100 HP up from 65 HP and 50 HP
Upgraded Rotor Head, Super Slider (double slider) std.
Magnum All Terrain G Force Landing Gear 7' wide.
Shaft Drive Metro Launch Pre-rotator.
Efficient/repeatable STOL Capability.
Upgraded Instrument Pod and Instruments.
Larger Disc 26 foot rotor blades.
Rotor Brake.
Upgrade Brakes.
Electric Brake Lock.
Extra fuel by 10 gallons ( total of 20 gallons )

NOTE:

In the gallery I uploaded these photos in High Def so that you can have a real close up look at this gyroplane.

Cheers,

Mitch.

Re: Aurora Butterfly Desert Dancing Mustering Machine

This from Larry Neal today.

"The price list on the web site for the "Monarch with the 912 engine" is
good for now on the Aurora. We just haven't officially named it the Aurora
on the website yet. All of the Monarch options will work except for the 6
gallon FERT. The Aurora uses the (optional) SSCycle twin 5 gallon fuel
tank setup. The Aurora only comes with the GFMAT landing gear and the
Metro Launch System (912 version)."

I have posted three more pictures of the Aurora in the Butterfly Gallery.
