Do you dress to the left or the right?

Ok its actually a serious question...

I understand its usually a good move to have all the bolts in the airframe going in one direction for ease of preflight, but which way??? left or right??? (as you look from the back of the aircraft).

Is there a standard for this?

Re: Do you dress to the left or the right?

mate......i've seen them from the left, i've seen them from the right, i've seen them a mix of both..........it's your call

back a while, we used to slip a crushing spacer inside the box tubing, that the bolt went through.........that's no longer done, buggered if i know why. Some are now saying that drilling the through holes rite close to the wall of the tube is as good as the crushing spacer..........i don't agree with that logic. [ have seen examples of over zelous tightening still crushing the tube, as some guys give the nuts a tweak every once in a while ] if we still fitted a crushing spacer, then that problem would not be happining.
have also noticed far too many guys "overtighten" all bolts.........to be sure, to be sure. Our 1/4 bolts are not that bleedin strong.........like we crank em up as though they are 1/2 inch bolts..........check out the required "torque" settings required for our "AN" bolts, will surprise you.
even the torque setting for bolting alloy, is different to bolting steel together. [ as well as the use of lube as you set the torque on your bolts is recommended.........using lube, stops the nut from "binding" prematurely against the metal, as you increase the tension to the "correct" setting ]
