Hmmm,
I seem to remember posting something to that effect to our Iranian friend not so long ago on the ASRA forum... he removed his photos off the web site and all that.
Who had a go at me then?? Ready to eat your words?
Have a look at the history of George Bush's family - his grand father sold german war bonds so Hitler could go to war, in the end against the Americans in an alliance with the Italians and the Japanese. Why is this man even a president? - because he could buy his way in - end of story.
The end game of all this is that the US will at some point in time retaliated against in the most horrible way, and it will be just the common people, like Sonny, who will pay the price, not the parasites like Bush / Cheyney, et al. who started all this 5hit in the first place, like 9/11 though I doubt that that was anything at all to do with foreign terrorists, more like the CIA or the 'dark forces' that Princess Dianna cited before her demise.
Be careful of who you vote for in the next federal election, it will cost you your life, and what you think is the 'experienced' party will most likely be the one that is owned by the war mongers, it seems that 'god' only helps those that help themselves, to your pocket, and life time.
Cheers,
Nick.

China isn't entirely stupid. They don't want these smaller unpredictable countries around them with atomic weapons - would you?
If America go into Iran or North Korea you can bet your balls that outwardly China will condemn and threaten, but I'm sure they are shaking hands behind closed doors and giving America the thumbs up.

Hey good news echo, they are about to release david hicks so he can serve any remaining goal time here. Will he serve it under his aussie name or the one he was using over there? (mohammed something or other i think)
Maybe instead of locking him up at taxpayers expense when he gets back we could give him something constructive to do like...patrol the entire coastline of australia on foot while warding off the occasional terrorist with a beaten up old SLR and a couple of skyrockets. In an effort to minimise expense to the taxpayer i'm trying to put together a sponsership deal for him and i think ADIDAS will come on board with plenty of running shoes but HARD YAKKA knocked me back coz they reckon they would'nt have a very big market in the middle east...any ideas?...could we send him to Taiwan to defend it?...would save the US heaps and would little johnny score many browny points do you think? :drunk:

Go easy on him Pete. Think of his poor old man having to pay all of that loot to get the useless piece of crap back here. He did have to pay, didn't he? Geez. Don't tell me the taxpayer had to cough for that.
Come to think of it, its probably only fair. The poor prick was probably just standing there, minding his own business in his Taliban uniform with his AK47 helping the local kids across the school crossing, when the nasty Yanks came along and jerked him out of there.
If there's an lesson to be learnt, its "dont capture the bastard alive".

He only ever had one great idea and i'll quote from PJ O'Rourke "Start thinking and pretty soon you get ideas, and then you get idealism, and the next thing you know you've got idealogy, with millions dead in concentration camps and gulags" and don't you hope that all this has been thought through by people far smarter than us,and Jesus! did you see that?...a pig just flew past the back door HOT DANG! :crazyas:

It's got me buggered , I must have said somewhere that I thought Mr Hicks was innocent  . I did'nt even discuss with the handbrake whether I thought he was guilty or innocent .
The point I was trying to make , & it seems like you , Pete & FW , like the Seppo's when I posted something similar on their forum , have missed it completly & decided to read something that wasnt there & have a sarcastic little dig at me .
The problem I have that this person spent 5 years in solitary confinment in Guantanamo without one of his basics rights , & that is to be trialled by his peers . What if that was your brother/son etc ? Would you not want him to face a court as soon as possible ? Or is every one accused of being a terrorist guilty without question .
We all know now that he has had his trial & he was proven guilty ( & if you listen to the bleating of his supporters had something to do with a Federal election coming up ..... :blahblah: ) . Good ! Lock the f@#kwit up over in an Iraqi gaol or put him in front of the survivors & family of the ones who did not survive the attacks on 911 & the Bali bombings, he'll wish he was back in Guantanamo.
So before you two pass judgement on me , listen up - I have served in the Australian Army & have nothing but admiration for all our diggers who have defended our country , my wifes Grandfather was a horsebreaker in The Light Horse , an Uncle that fought on the Kokoda , another Uncle fought in Vietnam .
I know what I would do with terrorists :Bat1: :pistoles: .
So don't dare imply that I am a Mr Hicks sympathiser.

Hey i'm an ex servy from the late sixties early seventies but i just used to shout "stop!...i've fired" and hoped they would, never realized till a while ago that the poor bastards could'nt hear me coz of the muzzle blast i guess and all this was bought back to me on a recent shooting trip, when a wanker mate was playing with his safety, and he really was. :blahblah: :)
So now you can get buggered safely ok cuz?...it's a kiwi thing

Echo,
Hi, I have been lurking on this board while I wait to get some flying lessons.
The terrorism laws in Oz are wide open to abuse. Depends on definition of terrorist. Guess the family court thinks I am one, because they put me in for a day when I declined to answer a question. With the threat that I would stay until I did answer. There was no charge, no hearing, just off to the cells as judge was having a bad hair day.
(Twas about child support, judge wanted to know where I had an asset. Judge was out of line as support is worked out on income, not assets. I had said, yup, I can pay, just want to pay the right amount)
There is no mechanism to complain about courts in Oz. They can do what they want.
I agree with you on Hicks. I think he is a prick, but to stick him in a cell for 5 years with no charge means we are acting like a dictatorship. He would still be there without the publicity.

Gidday gbw and what are you going to fly?
I was subject to the child support agencies whims when they first introduced the new system in 1990 and there were blokes topping themselves all over aussie because of it.Could'nt even get legal aid at the time and they'd just given some to bondy. That legislation was written by women with hairy armpits.I hear they've toned it down a bit over the years and it's no fun having a sherriff from the bailiffs office cleaning your house out either, especially when they arrive unannounced :Bat1:
911 was and is being used to prop up all kinds of big brother crap re legislation, and pollies historically have never trusted the electorate....jeez...won't even let us vote via a referendum on daylight saving over here...

Graham,
you're lucky - you were in court before they tossed you in the can - just kidding :poke:.
I've heard accounts like yours before with the family courts , none of them seem fair or just , & as Pete commented the large number of blokes who could only find one escape is appalling to say the least.
However , I fail to see the connection between your story & the hunting down of sh1thead murderers & dealing with them. maybe the family law courts is where we should send them; then you would have the snivel libertarians screaming cruel & unusual punishment .
"....stick him in a cell for 5 years with no charge means we are acting like a dictatorship . " What do you mean "WE" ? It was'nt us, it was the Seppo's , & of course he would still be there without publicity ,thats a no brainer .
Hey Pete,
we have a Kiwi out at work , he gives as good as he gets .He reckons Aussies arent too bad as they make good pets ..... :evil2: :Bat1: .
That reminds me - why are Kiwi race horses so fast ? Because they've seen what happens to the sheep :pelvic_thrust2: :evil_laugh:

Now its got me buggered. I didn't even think I was talkin about you, Echo. I was responding to Pete's light hearted banter about Hicks, and reckoned he should take it easy on HIM (HIM being Hicks). Apologies if it appeared otherwise. I too had father, uncles, grandfathers etc who served... Even chucked in half a dozen years of me own time. Enough of that. we're all on the same wavelength.
As for Hick's rights, if he wanted "rights", he shoulda stayed at home and earnt em, just like the rest of us did. Rights are what you can pay for, or what you can defend. Any person who goes to a foreign country and commits a crime should expect to be subject to the rules applying to that country. If you get caught and want legal representation, then pay for it. If your family wants legal representation, then let them pay for it. If the ratbags demonstrating for you want you to have representation, then let them pay for it. I'm not taliking about piss fartin crimes, here. I'm talking serious stuff. If the rules of engagement are that you sit in Guantanamo for 5, or 10, or 20 years waiting for a trial, then thats the rules you sign up for if you join Al-Quada. Everyone ( even a dickhead like me) knows that if you get caught running drugs in Indonesia or singapore, they're gunna execute ya. So why would you bleat, if you get caught. Its real simple. Don't do the crime. Don't do the time.
And just for the record. If he was one of my sons, brothers etc that got caught working with terrorists, running drugs in Asia, or rootin little boys in the Phillipines, I would sink my boot about 3 feet up his arse. Just before I disowned him. It's not the least bit likely to happen (given that my old man figured it was his mission in life to teach us right from wrong), but if it did, then they'd be too far off the tracks to waste any further time on.
Apart from that, young Hicks will probably get looked after by his own kind. A lot of people are probably puzzling over the leniency of his sentence. Probably not so his brethren with the turbans and beards. There's only one reason I can think of for such a light sentence. He's spilled the beans. I don't think he should spend much time contemplating how he's gunna spend his superannuation.
I'm outa here. :crazyas:

Hey i didn't think....man are we lettin off some steam or what? so lets have some fun eh? coz thats why i'm here,i like it,you too i hope.Consequences?...maybe,depends does'nt it...if you are an idealist or you just scoffed half a dozen magic mushrooms(same thing:)with vegemite on toast coz the mushrooms taste like...or licked your finger and dabbed a bag(they call it viagra now) or just dropped the best trip you're ever gonna have, what would you do?...or maybe do,the answer may be anything, and it's yours. You bet hicks did a lot of chatting, and chattering.
I've got an aussie dyed in the wool mate who has arabic features and a swarthy complexion to boot,he's a boat owner the poor bastard and whenever the US navy is in town i wind him up a bit by saying "hey kenny, launch the boat buddy(americanism),i'll loan you a black and white tea towel and we'll buzz a couple of american warships while they are layed up in fremantle harbour eh?...kenny goes real white which is hard for him to do and says he don't like the sound of rockets and 20/30mm gunfire no more plus he's married and the houseboat only does ten knots nowadays :question2:

You just don't get it do you FW ? I'd hate to be part of your family ; " Just before I disowned him" , "..too far off the tracks to waste any further time on ."
How about this ( & I'll type slowly so you can keep up ) : you get a phone call from where ever telling you your son is locked up for whatever, having sex with boys, carrying a backpack onto the tube, having his pic taken with a rocket launcher etc , take your pick.
From what you have said your reaction would be to get to him so you could drive a size 10 up his date.He is guilty without charge because someone said so , he must have done the crime cause he is in the can.
They won't let you see him ( maybe to save him from Blundstone penetration ) & they won't tell you what the charge is - remember this is your son . But hey , that doesnt matter cause you've disowned him " Aint no son of mine a rock spider/terrorist/drug runner , I ain't gunna waste no time on him ! "
You are correct , though , terrorists don't have any rights . But charge them & bring forward the evidence to prove that they have committed a crime .
Pete's story about his mate Kenny just about sums it all up.
