Some gyros appear to have moveable rudders., but some don't
I presume they are controlled by the
feet the same as planes? Again, some fotos seen to show fixed foot rests, rather than moveable.
This
is probably duh-obvious to anyone who knows anything about them,
but it just hit me as
odd.

Don, although looks can be deceiving, all gyros
have a moveable rudder. Even the unpowered gyro-glider which is towed behind a vehicle, when used for
training beginner pilots.
Sometimes the rudder size can be small or large depending on the
manufacturer's design for that particular aircraft.
The rudder is used more when taking off, or
landing. Not so much when cruising in flight, unless you have a cross-wind factor which prevents you from
flying straight.
The more you delve into gyros Don, the more you will learn about them.

Then I'll just have to drag firebird paul bak from NZ for some training!

I have to correct myself here in regards to the
previous comment I made of using the rudder when flying with a crosswind factor present.
Using the
rudder to keep the aircraft straight will allow the crosswind to push the aircraft sideways in what's known
as a drift. Much like what the wind does to boat on the water, when not anchored and not under powered means.
Not using the rudder will allow the aircraft to weathercock in to the prevailing wind direction, if
your heading is into the wind or off-centre.
