Hi all,

Just heard a news report of a gyrocopter coming down at Wallaville just south of Bundaberg at 0800hrs today.

Initial report said the gyro lost height in a turn flying into the ground. The 48 year old pilot was uninjured.

From the grapevine I received the following: - the gyro failed to recover from a powered off sink ... initial rudder input failing to correct but rather intensifying a spiral into the ground.

Main thing is the pilot walked away uninjured. So lets wait and see the accident report.

I'd clap to celebrate that he walked away ok, except I hurt my hand...

My commiserations to the pilot.. not a nice way to start christmas, but at least you can celebrate your good fortune as birdy says.

Regards,

Nick.

G'Day Gents,

I heard from people in the district that it was a vertical descent that went wrong turned into an uncontrolled spin. :shrug_no: :headache: The pilot is as you say. Sad day for a fellow gyro pilot.
