i was loookin at making a two seat gyro much like my single seater, but with the pasenger sitting close, with there legs going past the pilot[like some magni's].
i was then wondering if dual controls would be easy to incorporate with the rear controls coming direct off the top to a small t bar with its own motorbike style throttle and brakes, they could be removable when not required. with the front controls being cable it would be more compact and easy er for a shit kicker to build.
this made me wonder if flying would be hard or confusing [ ie.. dangerous] changing seats as the later style you pull to the left to make the cyclic roll right and vice versa.
has any one flown the direct t-bar controlled style of gyro and what are you thoughts on interchanging???
thanks, hoody

I've never flown one with the direct t-bar on it ... but I've seen a few to me they look very intuitive
more so than a joystick.... you are after flying a big disk and with a bar comeing down from the rotorhead and a pare of handle bars attached to it ... it just doesn't get any simplier than that
no slop no worry about parts breaking in the linkage and its light in comparrison ...
....
I was serriously considering putting one on my gyro.... I think i'ed love it !

Might as well Bob youve tryed everything else EXCEPT FLYING LESSONS
Hoody the movement required on a gyke would lead me to belive it would hit you in the back & pasenger in the chest without achiving full travel , but good to think outside the box

The original Bensens had the over head control, problem is, every thing is backwards.
Push forward to climb, push right to go left, might just take a little gettin used to.

Hoody,
It does seem a little odd to have two different control mechanisms on the one machine, particularily considering they will work in opposite to each other.

if while gettin used to it you had a competent pilot up front, it should be no big deal.
just like mastering the local clown's bike that has the handle bars geared so as to work opposite, hard to do at first but can be mastered by most drunk's after a few hilarious busters.

see if this photo works
Due to the direct coupling of the bar to the torque tube, the movement becomes amplified the longer the bar is.
Hitting your chest and passenger in the back would be a real problem.
The only way I can see this working is to use an "A" frame set up with training bars fitted like a trike.
This would only then leave your feet free for the placement of the throttle.
If I was goint to do this, I would buy and convert a Trike.
