I now live right on the edge of town, just legal distance from the airport, that lake is bout 30 km from town, it is fairly flat with a few hills and ranges around, how ever if you go bout 200 km out it starts to get into some ugly stuff, the properties i normaly fly over are pulled timber country, as in still alot of timber laying on the ground, not nice to try and find somewhere to land, just working on a bracket for my camera on the side of the seat so all i have to do is push the button, then i get some more shots of some up close and personal with trees while i work.
Good to see your here Echo, i love you gyro, there are a very nice looking bird, its a pity the situation with them at the moment, i hope it gets sorted out soon, did you take it to Birdy's

Yes i have already threatened him that i'm on my way out there, probably over the September school holidays, as my kids are going to their nans for those holidays so i'll be a free man for a couple of weeks, thou i guess David and Liz's kids would love to see some other kids, i know how hard it is to try to organise a social life of some kind when you live out in the middle of no where, i thinking i'll drag mine out there and then go on up to the top end for a few days, still dont know yet.
I'm not sure of the full details of the O D cabs thou i do know there was some sh*t flying, they rave on about stability and this clt thing all the time, and i fly an old A/C and they are renowned for being pricks of things to fly thou i can get in mine, and trim trees all day and not have a problem, its alot to do with whats between the ears of the pilot i feel, and i'm not saying for moment that i disagree with the clt thing, its just my thoughts that if it flys off the ground it should be able to be flown back on, with the right attitude.. :drunk:

Well i went for a lap this morning cause, ummmm had nothing else to do, took another couple of shots, couple of the mine that i was working at cause its closed as of next friday, and one of the trucks that cart the ore to the mine, normally they have four side tipping trailers with a pay load of about 85 ton.

Well the best bear trap is baited with a can of pea's.
Wot ya do is dig a big hole in the ground, it's best if the ground is frozen. Place the Pea's on the ice around the hole, and when the bear comes to take a pea, kick im in the icehole. :shiver: :yikes:
Cheers Ya'll

Sonny,
Cowboy's skinin eels? Ok wots that about?
The Cowboys are the North Queensland Cowboys football team, based in Townsville my local team, the Eels are the Parramatta Eels a team from down south, and the Cowboys were the under dogs for the game and they rolled them by 29-0 which is a fairly good flogging, so now the Cowboys are in the Grand final (which is like the Super bowl over there) for the first time since they start 10 years ago, they got beaten last year in same round which meant they missed the final, but were there this year. So this Sunday is a case of sitting down with a few orr alright a full box of beer and watch and enjoy the footy, and if the Cowboys pull it off it will be mayhem in Townsville on Monday.. :drunk:   :buddy:

Mitch if you had a motor out over that it would be pure luck if you could get it down safely, i wont be flying back over it again, dont want to tempt fate, got some more shots, purely beautiful even for someone who has been on the land most of his life it just looks so nice from up there, the photos dont do it justice the morning i flew over with the sun behind me and shining on the white faces it was just great. The new ride well what can i say but i should have done it years ago, the power is there when you need it, though a couple of times going though the hills i had the nose pointed up and the power on and still going down, big down drafts in between the hills, thou still not too sure of the clt thing yet, not used to it yet does things differently, and unusual at times, just need some more time in the seat, the jury is still out on it at the moment..
