Newbie to gyros, has initial training in a 2 seater, goes back home, hops into his own single, does a lap or 2. Then same day, same time ventures across "tiger country"
All was going well aparently, then the bloody engine stops.................GEEEEEZ............not on me first solo he would be thinking, trees everywhere, anyway puts it down SAFELY

Great ending to a nitemare........................onya hoody.........

it was the 4th flight.

2nd flight 1st day gearbox broke open and put me down rather quick. 3rd flight went about an hour. seemed to be all good so i decided to mostly follow some black soil flats home and bomb some neighbors for the 4th, on a very hot blowy afternoon.

had been ignorin turbulence all day so when she coughed and died, i yelled f@ck about 40ft up when i realised i had about 5 knotts airspeed, brett herd it over the cruiser he was in under me, dived in and yarded old pete up without any hessian. prick of a thing tried to run again and ruined a good landin as the end of "the" clearin was a choice between steel yards and a great f@#$in ironbark.

hey russ does that meen i get a musterin ticket???

pete recons i did a great job of dropin in for a stubbie, no one hurt and another good yarn to tell.
