I was at a seminar a while ago when it was suggested that "if you don't fly more than 20 hours a month" you are basicily a pilot who will forget the correct proceedures. So apart from Birdy, who fly very regularily as in more than 20 hours a month?

So i take it that none of you fly 20 hours a month, and....no one seems to care ( apart from the itinerant) about the comment made by a senior CASA representative.

I am looking for instruction at the moment in gyros but have 50Hours F/W to GFPT. I would say that 20 hours a month is excessive. There's no way you would need that many to stay up-to-date with it all. I did an hour a week through most of my flight training and had it all pretty down pat.
Maybe the casa bloke was talking about 20 hours a month if all flights were like 4 hour x country flights and 20 hours only meant 5 curcuits/landings.
Ted
The majorety of Trike, and Aerochute pilots would be lucky to do 10 hours a month due to weather.
This bloke needs to pull his head in !!!!. :censored:

The trouble is, that this view of 20 hours per month is endorsed by CASA. I know myself that one needs to be constantly alert whilst airborne for new circumstances. Just because you think you flew well yesterday, doesn't mean you will fly well tomorrow.
There are no gaurantees in this business other than if you get it up...... it will come down.

I am what I would call a regular flyer Ted and I would average 2 hours a week at most at the moment so between 5 and 10 hours a month. I did a few more per month in times gone by but no way would it be 20 a monthon a regular basis. Flying is 4 fifths hangar talk and one fifth flying from my experience.
Birdy, I did say the majorety, which dosnt include you !!!
Mustering in a Trike AAAAAAHHHHH.
I guess flying a Trike at very low level in hot windy conditions would be considerd hanging on !!!! :crazyas:

All i remember from my flying instructor was that if you havn't done a circuit for 3 months, you had to do 3 solo circuits before taking passengers.

Dean, in GA you need to do at least 3 Take Off & Landings every 90 days to remain current

Mind you, that's probably a good reason why you aren't allowed on RPT tarmacs to often.
