Ok i've been thinking of putting this forward so no time like now, a few of us are organising to get set up for a super (by super i mean a great camp not necessarily big, though bigger the better) camp next year at the nats. we need some musical people, like a couple of guitars ect, and then we will have a heap of cds, for when the musicians need a rest, already got someone willing to get there early to set up a bit, as most of the guys from up here are flying(think i've got 5, maybe six from up here, meeting up with a few others on the way) and we may have a shelia better half able to be a road crew.So start planing for it, a couple of months dont take long to slip by.If any one want to come over for a few drinks and a laugh, :joy: just ask Russ what were like when we get a few in us,*
WARNING no thin skins, must be able to cop it if your gonna give it..... :poke: :fingers:

Bones, If you mean we now need to ask the other tribe to organise both the competitions and a beer license, then its a long bow to be drawn.
Hell I haven't even seen any of that camp over this way lately either.
Oh well I suppose I can write and ask. Anyone got any "lations" over there, so we can soften them up before asking all these commonsence things? Russell? you got any inside connections?
Ted
Hoping to get there, depends on the "wet" season
Could bring some tucker.......ie, prawns,barra,mudcrabs........that's if you guys eat that sort of stuff
actually a bad time to leave here......

:( Well it is not looking good for me to get to the 2006 nationals. I have fallen a little behind with Firebird progress and NZ is hollowing out for help. I am going to Nelson around the 17th January to finish a guy, Neil, from Alexandra training. Neil and I hopefully will fly, in company with modified Raf 2000 rego RAE and Kevin ? in his Coyote ultralight, to the North Island up to Te Kohai to hopefully sign off a guy in his single seat Dominator. There is also a guy is it Geoff? with a Dominator tandem, way up past Auckland, who might need some training as well. Then we fly down to Dannivirke for the fly in. I want to have some further fruitful discussion with the CAA guest speaker Rex Kenny. Rex and I got along very well after he did his homework and realized I was not as bad as the Oz guys thought!!!
After the fly in, it is back to Nelson for a little more training if students need it. Then it is back to Oz to finish the first flyable Firebird, finish refurbishing Hybrid G-400, and load them into a container with an extra cab or two, some tail feathers and alloy etc for John, my NZ agent, to build some Firebirds for me to sell in NZ.
So it will be back to Nelson with the container for a month or so. I will train with Hybrid and conduct the flight testing and certification of Firebird during this stay. Hopefully I can sell both machines and get the cash flow going the right way!!!!!
Then home to get legal in Oz. I just cannot see me getting all this done by Easter 2006.
Never mind, as long as it gets done is the main thing.
Aussie Paul. :mrhappy
Geez paul............next I'll be readin you've uped camp and moved over there, permanent like. Your frequent flyer points must be gettin a boost.
Me n her bin there numerious times...........love that south island, UNBELIEVABLE place.........pity it's so cold, otherwise could live there too.......mate what a place.
Have actually chased up costs etc etc to get the gyro on trailer with our soon to be purchased motorhome over there for an extended stay, maybe do a bit of training etc, but primaryily to fly about them mountains, glaziers all over that south island............keep dreamin russy..........cheers :shiver:

Great stuff Russ. I love the south island. I am treated with respect over there with the gyro assns and the CAA. I would live ther if there was enough market potential. They have far better rules than us. NZ has 3 associtions, SAC, Sports Aircrft Confederation, RANZ, Recrerational Aircraft of New Zealand, and the Autogyro Assn of NZ. The first two are in competition for members and they look after all recreational aircraft whether they be gyros or fixed wing. The three organisations all work together for the betterment of the recreational pilopts. CAA are really helping us to fine tune the gyro movement in NZ. You cannot beat competition. Of course there are some conflicts between SAC and RANZ. RANZ is like ASRA, an honary organisation, where as SAC is a private, probably more professional organisation.
In 1999 I became qualified with RANZ as my student was a RANZ member, and in 2004 I becams acreddited with SAC as my students and admin helpers all belonged to SAC. I have nothing against RANZ, as that is grass roots stuff where I came from, BUT SAC can help more with moduifications etc. NZ gyros have gone to the next level and I await the time when the gyro movement in Oz does the same. Several years ago Paul Middleton from the then AUF approached ASRA to have us join with them. That would have been wonderfull. The ASRA board at that time rejected the offer. One of the reasons I believe was costs. Now we are are paying a huge sum of money for a possibly dubious insurance policy, and have nowhere near the privleges of the RAA. If we had gone with the RAA with their paid administration excellence, Llewella would not have all this work she keeps complaining about!!!!! Never mind the day will come where there is competition and everyone will have to compete on a level playing field.
By the way this is not a slight on ASRA, just an opinion based on my experiences of operating in Oz and NZ over the years.
So back to the story Russ. Yes NZ is in desperate need of instructors the same as Oz. As I am accredited there I enjoy helping out. In NZ you cannot charge for instruction, only costs, BUT NZ needs the help, and as I am accrediuted in NZ, they love me coming over there every few months helping to get everyone legal.
Aussie Paul. :mrhappy
Hey paul.............that last paragraph is a worry
Can't charge for instruction....................only costs ???????????????
Who determines my costs.............geez........... [ or do I say......."my costs are $120ph" ] ??????????????
just wundering here............ :yikes: :peace:
