Got a ph call the other day asking this..............YES is the answer

I have been doing this for years, CASA approved.

You need the following.....
radio, strobes, min 100 hrs

CASA will approve your entry with a couple of "must do's"

Can not operate within 15 minutes of a schedualed passenger flite
Must have the 3 needs, as shown above
Must be able to clear populated areas if you have a machine malfunction

They will issue you with an "instrument", renewed every 2 yrs. They also give you permission to go to 5000 AGL,along with entry to Govt and licensed strips etc

YOUR wording is the key here, on your application, call me........

And when you get the nod......you need to let the other fly boys know "HOW SLOW" you go, in relation to them. This is important.......they've never mixed it with gyros....maybe

G'Day Russell
The Casa approved instrument you explained only allows you to operate a gyro in Class G airspace, and not in controlled airspace.
It Allows one to operate within 8 km of a licenced aerodrome, and
Up to a maximum hight of 5000ft AMSL (above mean sea level).
And yes you must be equiped with VHF airband radio and flashing beacon.

Regards Sam.

Nothing on the paperwork mentions "class G" airspace
I assumed that with the notation etc etc in part reading " no flites within 15 mins of a passenger flite, was my permission to get into controlled airspace.
Will check this out further, and report back

Shyte........would have been interesting calling up sydney at the 15 mile area........hey guys I'm coming in.........hell

cheers........

I was told the other day that I couldn't fly into controlled airspace ( in a gyro), however it may be possible to fly into an MBZ providing I have a radio, beacon, and an instrument from CASA plus a $7.50 landing fee( local council fee). In the case of Toowoomba, The instrument neede to be endorsed by the local CFI who acts as their agent. Biggest problem here is tryn to find a way to fly into and out of the airport without flying over a populated area - which is nigh impossible.

So its back to walking...
