Davo,
this is an old pic , it is the first tandem I built in '02 .
The nose wheel setup is what I think you were taking about .... tapered bearings in the head stock , chrome moly down tube , swingarm with a shock & disc brake off a mountain bike . Strong.

Plus I reckon it steers better than G 1961 & G 640 , probably because of the vertical rather than angled downtube , something to do with 'castor' or the 'shopping trolley effect ' ....... ...dunno ...

I rang Mathew at Performance Metals & he is going to chase up all the bits I need for the new single seaters ..... top bloke to deal with

You're right Rotor , I did f#*k up :anger: .... but I aint telling ya what I did :o ...

Davo ,
if that nose wheel set up fails then I'd say you've had a big crash . I didnt build it to pussy foot around on paved strips Saturday & Sunday. If you've got a better design , then lets see it .

4,300 hours and the nose wheel hasn't been replaced and its taken the proverbial pounding unfortunately over the years.

Echo,

Sounds like your going to be building a few single seaters .... will you be marketing them or are you planning on only a few at this stage?

Dunno about the neck brace Des but I can tell you Rosco was wearing a back brace the other day, apparently serious enough to put him in bed for a few days.
He even made me work on my own gyro, thats how serious it was !!
