Howdy Y'all
Went to the members map the other day, and much to my surprise I can't see all of you like before. Where'd every body go?
The map and the photo gallery or my favorite places on the forum, so please run up your flag, on the the map.
Thanx all.
Cheers

Easy,

Go into Map >> right next to FAQ on the far right of the grey menu up top ....

Then enter your postal ZIP Code into the box provided under "Information for your own entry" (you may need to open the entry area by clicking on the two small arrows http://www.rotorcraft.com.au/images/styles/rotor/buttons/collapse_tcat_collapsed.gif on the end of the line ...

Another box will open with the name of your town or district next to the ZIP Code box and you may need to pick the town from the drop down if there is more than 1 town or place with the same postcode.

Then "Save Entry"

Let me know if you need any more help ....

Think you mean the closest member is [member] and they are [so many] kl's from you and same for the furtherest away ...

Rotor,

What happens if you spread yourself across 2 locations ie Two Rocks and Bindoon it only allows Adrian S to register one.

Thanks,

Adrian

Nope. Doesn't work for me. If we take an example or 2.
1. SamL is listed as "SamL 3041 Strathmore (291 km)"
2. Daveb is listed as "daveb 3193 Black Rock (229km)".

Now, both these blokes are members (ASRA, VSRA, Rotorcraft forum, and probably heaps of other things as well). You could walk from Strathmore to Black Rock in a day (provided you didn't get mugged).

It's all a bit of a mystery. Can you enlighten? :D

Birdy .. know what you meant by km now - when you look at your own flag it wont give you km's after it because on the other members flags that is the distance they are from your flag.

Fred ... as you can see from my reply to birdy - IO had misinterpreted what Birdy meant when he asked what km meant - didn't realise he was talking about the km on the info when you highlighted a flag.

That is the distance from where that other members flag is to where your flag is located .... that means that SamL at Strathmore is 291 km from you at Bairnsdale etc etc. SamL is listed as 1655 km from me at Gladstone. All the member distances from you will be on their flag info.

And I'll get in before some one asks ... the location of the flags on the map aren't as good as what they could be - they're a little out of wack. I'll see if there's anything that can be done to correct it :D

Thanks Rotor,
I worked it out once Birdy said his was the only flag that didn't have a distance. I was about to tell him that mine didn't have one either. Then the penny dropped, brick by brick (or was that the shithouse?) fair on me head. I originally tried it like you said, but I picked a couple of bad examples. Brian is only showing as about 600 km from here, and I know he is at least a half million clicks away. But I forgot about the straight line bizzo. And Mitch is only just across the pond (reckon I could see his joint if I stood on the roof) and he is shown as 381 k.

Paul,
The only reason I've got time on my hands is 'cause I'm not allowed in the airport :D:D:D.

G'day Rotor,
You must have lucked in at exactly the right (or maybe wrong) time. I've been on that group (and its predecessors) for about 10 years, and only made about a dozen posts. Every few years a shit fight starts and it self destructs, and some of them nick off and start a new list. Used to be some really smart critters on the list but down to only a few these days. Some really good info available if you know who to watch (sound familiar?):D:D.
Cheers

Dave (birdy)

I've added Indiana Station to the map info - go back in and put 0870 in for the postcode and you'll now get Indiana Station in the drop down which should put your flag around the right spot ....

all the flags are a little bit out ... I did put your lat and long in - unless I've got the wrong property on google  but I don't think so ... have a look at where it's put SamL -from memory Strathmore wouldn't be more than 15k from the centre of Melbourne

Ok,

Your gonna love me fellas but I've found a google members map that sh!ts all over the present one .... It's very similar to the one we had on the old site.

What I need to know is which one you all like - it will mean placing your link into the new one again but we can't get away from that.

You can get to it from the Home Page in the Main Menu on the left hand side of the page or by following this link:

New Members Map (http://www.rotorcraft.com.au/vbgooglemapme.php?do=showmain)

Bullshil Sonny - I can see mitch is holding you up.... I've seen the man with plates in his neck with killer pain killers and three cups of coffee, the man is a trojan. I doubt the scare bear was more than a dim memory...

Ok,

Seeing as we had 100% agreement on this - the Google Member map has been adopted. Thanks Sonny ;)

Please ... I know I know (not this again!!) go and place your pin on you location again ..... it's a pain but the software wont let me do it for users ...

Birdy - you'll be happy - you can place your pin right over your property and not go anywhere near Alice .......

Make sure you place info into the two extra fields available or it wont save - those boxes are marked:

"Marker Title" at the top of the map ....
"Marker Text" at the bottom of the map

If you dont fill them in, then the map wont save - and don't put any characters like "!@#$%^&*(){}[] into the boxes or none of the markers will show on the map - just use normal letters and numbers please ......

ok .... need help  :( :anger: - ask :D

rotor

rotor

Additional to the characters not to place into the 2 boxes - it seems the program doesn't like following characters either -'<>?/;:\|

Just use straight old numbers and letters and you pin will show (should show) immediately ...
