Fellas there is only one real one way of putting this, and it goes something like this;

The old lets forget where the hell we are, and what the f*ck we are doing thing struck again, :Bat1: and it struck me yesterday, i been flying for most of the day got home about 10 mins before last light, landed fine, with a bit of a roll with the tail wind, that is the good bit. I then look around to see the 2 kids horses standing beside the gate that i go through to get the house, so with my mind on them and what they are thinking, i drove through the gate, taxi over to near the house, to where i park the gyro(like i had done 100+ times before), and on the concrete pad is the block of wood that i had used to "handbrake" that morning, and with out thinking to much of getting ready to stop like i normally do, i even think i took my feet off the peddles, but the gyro with the tail wind, had about 2 kts too much speed for the piece of timber, and it jumped over it, so then(tired and still sick from the day before, had a vomiting virus) just sort of froze and by the time realsied to do something, i guess thinking about it now, paniced and pushed the wrong friggin peddle steering the gyro towards the post at the side of the house. :nervious: So with the usual damage resulting from a set of rotors coming to a complete stop from about 170-200rpm, it certaily woke me up good and proppa i can tell you, :blink: so of course there was some language and things getting thrown(still looking for me sunglasses). I turned off the engine and stepped out of what was left of my machine, to find that not only were my 100 hr rotors now no longer as there were 5 secs before, but my Ivo prop, was also worse for wear, so the old saying is true about $1000 per second once the sh*t starts hitting the fan, and i figure about 6 seconds worth(still not sure if the motor is damaged yet) so it could be more. :'(

So another reminder people do not get complacent, and please keep your whits about you til the rotors and motor have stopped spinning. :evil2:

But seriously, thats stupid Bones, if your not careful, youll catchup with me. ::)
On a good note tho, the 914 can handle it, coz its an AIRCRAFT motor, and the builders obviosly know we hava horrible habbit of hitn things with our props. Just wack anatha prop onit and she'll be like new. :cheers:

You're now a member of an exclusive club Bones, thats the good news, there was another fellow that I heard of that drove the rotor blade clean through a sheet of corrugated iron one day and another that stopped his rotors with a 2 inch galvanized pipe upright!!

You reckon that poxy little motor is an aircraft motor Birdy, come on, its a oversized lawn mower engine :hahano: :poke:

Did you find your sunnies , Bones ? I thought part of your pre flight was to check yourself " ... tired & still sick from the day before .... " ? :no:

I know it's no consolation Bones but you can rest assured that you are not the first to do that sort of thing. I know of at least 3 other similar 'accidents' and there is no doubt that there are many more that we don't know about (and it will happen again to someone else). Good thing that you got that one out of the way before the Xeno arrived - that could have ruined your day.

You would be sure of that Tim, i have laid some very serious NEW ground rules for ground handling now, like pushing the gyro close to buildings from now on, and a couple of others, and i have some one here to make sure i do stick to it..... :wave:

Well Echo i know better then some to know that this is true, the thing is i was so VERY aware of the dangers of these types of things while in the air, making sure i was making idle chit chat with the groundy's, and making sure i had my whits about me for landing i just switched off after landing..
