N.B. If your thinking of coming to the ASRA Nationals in 2008 please register your interest.
Why, because we would like to get some sort of estimate on the numbers that are likely to attend,
of course the earlier we can get the info the better.
Sorry, you need to become a registered user of our club site (free of course) it does takes very little time to do so.
you can REGISTER HERE (http://www.vsra.org.au/register.php) for our club site. A valid email address is required to complete the registration process.
Some people were registered in the past on our club site, due to unfortunate circumstances this is no longer the case (end of June 2007).
Sorry, you'll have to register again.
If you have a problem registering please CALL me or use the "CONTACT US" on our site if you need assistance.
I will be more than happy to help.
Once you are a registered user, please choose the "RESERVATIONS" section of the site to register your interest.
We will have an early bird booking arrangement shortly.
We have been able to secure some discounts for those that book early with us, but we need to know who and how many, the earlier the better.
Our reservation system can be found at INTEREST in the ASRA NATIONALS 2008 HERE (http://www.vsra.org.au/modules/eguide/event.php?eid=1)
Come on you know you want to come, the only thing we are asking at the moment is to tell us you want to.
Thanks to all. I REALLY HOPE to see those numbers telling us who at least wants to come.
Don't sit on your hands, you know you want to come, please let us know. Thanks!! ;)
Hi to all !!!
Just a quick update on what the Rotorcraft Association of Victoria is doing leading up to our 2008 ASRA Nationals.
Due to Wangarratta being a CTAF, and requiring all gyro pilots to hold an Aerodrome Endorcement, our club has implemented the following initiative.
All current RAV members who havent got an aerodrome, and or radio endorcement, have been invited to attend a one day trainning session being held at Ballarat airport by Paul Bruty late September.
Paul has been kind enough to make himself available and run the club training as well as sign off those members passing the relivent exams on the day. we have emailed all those members with all relivent study material in preperation to the day.
I would highly recommend that all our sister Gyro clubs around OZ adopt a similar stratergy, ensuring as many of there members get these endorsments as possible.
This will help us ensure that all gyro pilots attending will be able to fly, experience, and enjoy what Wangarratta has to offer during next years Nationals.
Looking forward to it !!!!!!
Good luck http://www.asra.org.au/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif
Regards Sam...............
Aerodrome endorcements for all pilots will be a requirement at next years Nationals. But the carraige and use of radio's wont. (this is because Wangarratta is only a CTAF, and radios are not mandatory)
What most people dont know, or understand is that a radio endorcement "is" required to get an aerodrome endorcement.
Hope this makes sense.

Hi Matt
Can I suggest you get ahold of Paul Bruty and register your interest to attend the September course. Give me a call during the week and I can get you sorted.

Query..........same time [ easter ] the "NATFLYIN" is held, heard it was just a few hrs flyin time from wangaratta.........question, do you have to get prior approval to drop in ??????????
Am hearing it attracts thousands of folks, might be tempted to show em a nice gyro or 2. Quick blat over to em, maybe.
G'Day Russ
Natfly is held at Narromine in central NSW. I would guess it to be a lot more than just a few hours away (in a gyro anyway). Not sure of its requirements during the flyin, but you should be able to find some info on the RAA web site, and the NOTAM's of the day.
I have never been, but will make an effort to attend one day.
Looking forward to seeing your and Allan's Raftor.
Regards Sam.

By my calculations, it's only 260NM(500kms) thats only one tank of fuel for me,thats for the white one, the new should be able to do it on full tanks also, whats the problem.

G'Day Russ/Sam/Bones,
2003 at Forbes Nationals. 4 gyros made there way from Forbes to Narromine and Robbie Glenn joined up with the group as we flew close by his place.
5 gyros dropped in and we stayed for an hr and then flew back. From memory it took about 1 1/2 hrs each way maybe less.
The folks a Narromine loved it. For me it was my first cross country in a gyro (Allan Wardill's RAF2000) and a magic experience.
Cheers,
Mitch.
Hey bonsey..........done the calculations with that air nav program i got......shyte, it's good, anyway 4hrs at 70kts each way. As long as fuel is available at narromine..........no probs.

David,
I can not use your site. Frustration is always such a downer. :(
I would like to see what accommodations you are recommending since 'bagging' the place I intended to stay at.:'(
Could you please list them here. Thanks.
And are you offering a 10% early booking discount on these motels or is it only the camping/caravan sites you are dealing with directly?
Mitch.
G'Day Mitch and all.

The early bird discount applies to food catering, & camping. The main reason for this is to give people an incentive to pre book saving you $$$$, and giving us a better, and more organised approach to cater for the event.
All accomidation, including camping & motels is up to you, but we have had support from Davids listed motels offering ASRA members a discount.
For those like me who like to rough it (camp it) there are great camp facilities at the airport, but you must book a site, and all bookings are being logged by David via RAV. This is normal, and again it will aid us in estimating attendence numbers prior to the event.
For all those who place a booking, they will receive a total agenda of the 4 days, covering, all timings, events, facilities, area maps, NOTAM's, local attractions, meals, breifings, and presentations.
Looking forward to it
Regards Sam...........

The early bird discount only applies to food catering.
:arrow2: Not quite true it applies to campsites as well.
