Howdy all
I just odered a new prop. It's a 50" x 26" pitch 2 blade'r from Albatrose flying systems.
Well I was wandering, what differance would I should see if I had a 3 blade'r of the same size made for my machine.
I have an open fram single seat airfram that is CLT and a big HS in the center of the thrust line with a 72hp Mac.
These are all wood fixed pitch porps.
Any suggestions welcome, good, bad, or indifferant.
Thanx
Sonny

A guy Rob Patroney........makes props and blades here in Oz, once told me [ I think] that a 2 blader had benifits over a 3 blader. I think the governing factor re the 2 blade system was your room available....therefore a smaller diam 3 blade was your only choise........call him, get the facts from the horses mouth, so to speak......07 41548180..........Russ

Howdy Sonny !
the way I understand it is that if you have the room a 2 bladed prop is best, more efficient because you can have a bigger (longer ) prop
in the case of your gyro you are restricted in how long a prop you can put on your machine I think it was a 58" prop on there a while back if I remember right ........
anyway , You can't go with a bigger prop I don't think , you just don't have the room between the engine and the frame , so
a 3 bladed prop is the next best thing .
if you can get a 3 bladed prop the same diam as your old 2 bladed one you should be alot better off more thrust than with the old prop at any rate
how much of a diference I have no idea . sorry

but sense your working with an undersized 2 bladed prop to begin with with an engine that could probly swing an 80" prop ... I think a 3 or 4 bladed prop is the way to go for ya !

Hopefully some of these fellers that have switched props back and forth will tell us and we'll learn somthin'

see ya Buddy ! and glad to see ya on this site too !
