Tim McClure,
this is the tank I have setup on the tandem . I think it should work , I can't get the engine to fire to test it - no spark :anger:  :censored:

What sort of computer?

Tim,
the 'puter is just a standard Subaru Liberty 3 pin . I got it running this arvo , the problem was a power wire that the " AUTO ELECTRICIAN " left off :punch: . It took me 5 hrs of undoing wires & tracing where it was causing the problem - they forgot to run a power wire between the starter & the harness to the ECU ,everything else was powered up thats why I couldnt work out what was wrong :chainsaw: :censored: . He hasnt been paid yet :Bat1: .

Might put the blades on Sunday & do some taxi work :nervious:

Eric...........that surge tank you showin here. Query.........why is the "return" fuel line not at the very top of the tank, assuming that top line is the breather ?????????

My previous machines tank had "return and breather lines" at the VERY top..........you know sumin i don't

Russ,
as Sgt Shultz once said - " I know nuthing ...."
The only reason I put the return there is because there was already a hole there .... why ? .... what's going on? .....do you know sumting I don't ? :flamed:

Ran the motor again this morning , everything seemed OK , just gotta read the instructions on how to calibrate the fuel flow ( yeah , tried it without reading the little book - that don't work :paper: ) .The sender & metal screen is on the opposite side .... have a look :crazyas: ......

You bin called d*ckhead lately :peace:

Think you might find the sender has to be vertical as well, with a damn good filter B4 it. Any particals can stuff the turbine thingo.

When it comes to calibrating........run 40L minimum through the system.........you get a more accurate figure to then recalibrate the guage. You can get em reeeel accurate.

The way your build is progressing......can see you ringin it's neck ina month.........lucky you

Nick, if you want to have fun without clothes go to Darwin, Russ knows just the place.

Hi Eric, the fuel transducer is supposed to be vertical but mine works just fine and its mounted the same as yours. Yes, you are supposed to have a filter between the tank and the transducer but I never have and have only stuffed 2 transducers so far !
Just a small point but I see you have what looks like a sight glass on your surge tank, if this is so, is it protected from stones etc ? As far as I know, it doesn't matter if the return line comes back into the top or bottom.

Your machine looks good Eric, you have put a lot of time and thought into your work.

What make of fuel transducer is that and what Make of fuel flow is it ??

That wouldn't be fun, that'd be a pain in the ar5e....

Yeah Russ , the Handbrake calls me a 'd1ckhead' every day , might have something to do with me running down me airstrip flapping me arms going " woka woka woka " :crazyas: :crazyas:.

The fuel sender thingo only has to be slightly inclined ( a bit like Russ ... :moon: :chuckel: ) to let any air bubbles go thru , apparently they will work fine horizontal if you have no air in the line. The metal doodad before it IS a filter ( metal screen , not paper ) , dunno what micron but . There is another filter after the pump.
I bought it with one of them Flight 11 digital instruments from Asia Pacific Light Flying.

Brian , the site tube on the tank faces rearward , if it looks like giving any trouble I'll just p1ss it off & put some bungs in the holes , theres no real need for it .

At idle the guage was showing 2.4 ltrs / hr - does that sound close ?

Echo, the fuel flow thingy on mine will only read dead acurate if the electric pump is off, only running on the machanical pump, the reading you are getting is probably close to the mark, but do yourself a favor and once ytou are flying, zero it all out and make sure you know how much fuel you put through it, and run at LEAST 100lts thruogh, then calibrate it, the more fuel the more acurate it will be, the last time i did it(Easter time) i ran 138lts and then callibrated it and it is that close it is good, ie about 1-2 lts over 100lt,and that is full throttle to idle all the time too, very hard for it to read acurate whilest the flow is varing so much all the time, and i set it so it was reading the 1-2 lts more, so when it said hey idiot you only got 5 lts left, i might have 7 lts, figured better that way than the other way

Depends what is making the noise. My Suby 2.2 shows about 1.8 at idle once its warm.

Brian,
sorry , I thought you knew what engine I was using , an EJ22 with Auto flight box.
What sort of exhaust system are you using on yours ?

Sorry Eric, you most likely did tell me the engine unit, been pretty hectic around here and a few things have slipped the mind.

Using a two into one, a Tim McClure built exhaust, no muffler. depends on engine tuning what LPH your motor will use. Mine indicates approx 15.5 & 3800 revs
